Hence, for ordinary people, a simple way for having a better understanding of the Imam and making a better image of him in their minds is to know the physical characteristics of the Imam, which have been reflected in Islamic narrations.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Of course, in the case of the Twelfth Imam, the function of corporeal features and bodily signs is more important; because the previous Imams used to introduce and show the next Imam to the believers, but due to the disappearance of Imam Mahdi (p. b. u. h) and his longevity, the Imams before him are not alive to introduce and confirm him. Whereas in the time of the Imam's occultation which is a time of bewilderment, and a proper opportunity for the false claimants of Imam Mahdi (p. b. u. h), it is probable that the reason behind the numerous traditions mentioning the signs of Imam Mahdi's appearance is that people do not lose the right path by holding on the narrations of the infallible Imams. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-1\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">1<\/a> Accordingly, in some Hadiths, physical features of Imam Mahdi (p. b. u. h) is depicted in the following general frameworks:<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"Imam Mahdi's resemblance to prophet Muhammad\" font_container=\"tag:h2 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"1\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>According to some Hadiths, Imam Mahdi (p. b. u. h) is the most similar person to the Prophet (May Allah send blessings and peace upon him and his household). J\u0101bir b. \u02c8Abd Allah al-An\u1e63\u0101r\u012b (one of the sincere companions of the Prophet) reported from the Prophet to have said, <em>The Mahdi is from my progeny, his name and patronymic is the same as mine. Is\u1e25\u0101q b. Sa\u02c8d al-Qumm\u012b says that he heard Imam Hasan 'Askari have said, <em>Thank Allah that He did not take me away from this world without showing me, my successor. He (my son, Mahdi) is closest to the Prophet in his features and character<\/em>. \u201d<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-3\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Also, it is narrated from the Prophet to have said, <em>He (Mahdi) most closely resembles me in appearance and behavior than all other people.<\/em>\u201d<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-4\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (p. b. u. h) says, <em>He (Mahdi) most closely resembles the Messenger of Allah in character, face, beauty, and appearance. \u201d<\/em><a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-5\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">5<\/a><br \/>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"Resemblance to prophet Moses, prophet Jesus, and Imam al-\u02c8Askar\u012b\" font_container=\"tag:h2 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"1\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Imam Ri\u1e0d\u0101 quotes from the Prophet to have said, <em>He (Mahdi) resembles me and prophet Moses<\/em>.<em>\u201d<\/em><a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-6\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p><em>He (Mahdi) most closely resembles Jesus the son of Mary, in his disposition, face, dignity, and awe. \u201d<\/em><a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-7\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>In another narration it is said that Imam Mahdi would bear a striking resemblance to his honorable father Imam Hassan al-\u02c8Askar\u012b. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-8\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"Imam Mahdi's physical traits in his early childhood\" font_container=\"tag:h2 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"1\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>A few people had succeeded to visit Imam Mahdi (p. b. u. h) during his childhood; For example, \u1e0caw b. Ali, a man from Fars- Iran, in the course of narration, quotes some of the characteristics of the Imam's childhood, <em>. He (Imam Mahdi) was a white fair<\/em><em>-<\/em><em>complexioned<\/em> <em>boy . <\/em>\u201d<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-9\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Ya'q\u016bb b. Manq\u016bsh says, <em>I went to Imam Hassan <\/em><em>\u02c8<\/em><em>Askar<\/em><em>\u012b<\/em><em>. On the right side of the Imam, I saw a room with a curtain hanging on its entrance. I asked the Imam as to who was the Master of the Age i. e. the next Imam. Imam<\/em> <em>\u02c8Askar\u012b replied, 'Raise the curtain!' When he raised the curtain, a boy appeared and came and sat on the Imam's lap. The boy seemed to be at age eight to ten; with a sparkling forehead and white complexion, big black piercing eyes, and two broad shoulders. He had a black mole on his right cheek, and his hair was over his shoulders. He sat on the knee of his father Abu Muhammad al-\u02c8Askar\u012b. Then, Imam \u02c8Askar\u012b said to me, 'This is your master. \u201d<\/em><a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-10\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">10<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"Imam Mahdi\u2019s physical characteristics\" font_container=\"tag:h2 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"1\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>In accordance with Islamic narrations, some bodily features of Imam Mahdi (p. b. u. h) are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"1. Head:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>The Imam's head is proportionately large and round<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-11\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">11<\/a>, and there is a mole or mark on his head. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-12\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">12<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"2. Complexion:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>He is handsome and brunet fair complexioned; his face is radiant like a shining star. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-13\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">13<\/a> According to some narrations, he like the Prophet (May Allah convey His salutations and greetings to him and his household), has a reddish-white complexion<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-14\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">14<\/a> because the Arab complexion is a mixture of red and white. His saintly whitish radiant face is due to keeping vigil at nights to worship Allah the Exalted the Glorified. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-15\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">15<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"3. Face:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>The effulgence and the awe of Imamate is apparent in Imam Mahdi's face which is like a bright star. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-16\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">16<\/a> His face is soft, and there is a beautiful black mole on his right check. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-17\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">17<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"4. Forehead:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Imam Mahdi's forehead is broad and luminous,<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-18\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">18<\/a> and there is a mark of constant prostration on his forehead<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-19\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">19<\/a> (the use of the word \u201cmark\u201d in the hadiths, instead of \u201cmole,\u201d suggests that the mark will be lighter in color than a mole).<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"5. Nose:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>The Imam's nose is fine and narrow with a slight protrusion in the middle. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-20\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">20<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"6. Mole:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>He has two moles on his back; one is between his shoulders like the seal of the prophethood of the Prophet (p. b. u. t),<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-21\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">21<\/a> and another with the color of his skin. Also, there is a mole on his thigh,<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-22\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">22<\/a> and a mole on his cheek. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-23\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">23<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"7. Hair:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>His hair is neither curly nor straight,<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-24\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">24<\/a> and there are not any white hairs in his head and beard. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-25\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">25<\/a> As a child, his hair was shiny, black, and curly falling over his shoulders. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-26\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">26<\/a> According to the narrations, his hair color is not completely black, but it has a slight redness; of course, its blackness prevails over its redness. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-27\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">27<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"8. Eyebrows:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>His eyebrows are thick<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-28\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">28<\/a>, close to one another, and curved crescent-like. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-29\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">29<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"9. Eyes:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Imam Mahdi (p. b. u. h) has round, black, large, and sunken eyes. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-30\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">30<\/a> Perhaps his sunken eyes are due to keeping vigil and staying awake at nights to worship God. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-31\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">31<\/a> Naturally, his beautiful eyes are like kohled eyelashes. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-32\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">32<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"10. Teeth:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>He has bright teeth, and there is appropriate space between his front teeth. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-33\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">33<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"11. Beard:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Imam Mahdi (p. b. u. h) has a short, copious, and thick beard. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-34\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">34<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"12. Palms:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>The Imam's palms are large<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-35\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">35<\/a>, and there is a mark or mole on his right hand palm. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-36\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">36<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"13. Abdomen:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>He has a wide abdomen. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-37\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">37<\/a> In his chest, a thin strand of green hair, not black, extends from under his throat to the navel. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-38\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">38<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"14. Thighs:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>His thighs would be broad and his bones shall be long<a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-39\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">39<\/a> and there is a mole on his right thigh. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-40\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">40<\/a> It shows that the thighs of the Imam are muscular and thick, which indicates the physical strength of the Imam.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"15. Knees:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>His knees, because of their greatness and largeness, tends to be fallen appropriately. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-41\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">41<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"16. Shins:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>The Imam has thin muscular shins, which indicates his training. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-42\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">42<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"17. Power:\" font_container=\"tag:h3 | text_align:left\" use_theme_fonts=\"yes\" content_level=\"2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>He is so strong that if he hits the biggest trees on earth, he would knock it down and if he shouts between the mountains, he would break its stones. <a class=\"gt-ref-tooltip ref-notes\" id=\"notelink-\" href=\"#refnote-43\" data-toggle=\"tooltip\" data-placement=\"bottom\" title=\"\">43<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=\"18.
